Ode to Yeg in String (2016) Acrylic Paint and String on Masonite (48 x 48”)
This one of the first pieces I created as a part of a current exploration of using mixed media, specifically string, as a physical manifestation of mark-making. For Ode to Yeg in String, I reached out to my network of friends and family who live in Edmonton and asked them for architectural structures that immediately come to mind when they think of “home”. The Muttart Conservatory, AGA, Clock tower on Whyte Avenue, and others were then combined into a collage of architecture recognizable in shape but shifted around in scale, location and colour.
