A Home for some Edmonton-Heavy String Art!

I am so honoured to have been selected, along with five other artists, as a 2018-2019 featured artist of Shaw Conference Centre Community Art Program. My piece, “Ode to Yeg in String” will be up there for a year to be seen and enjoyed by visitors. It is one of the first pieces I did with string, and it’s really a celebration of iconic landmarks in this city, so I think the Shaw is a great home for it! Here is more from the Shaw’s web site:

It all started with an open call to local artists, and in 2018, we received over 200 submission from 70 artists. The submissions were evaluated by a panel of members from Edmonton Economic Development Corporation and total of 15 pieces from six local artists were selected. These pieces represented the spirit of Edmonton and showcased important aspects of our city’s vibrant arts culture. These pieces from six local arts are currently being exhibited and will hang in our venue over the next year.  They were officially unveiled during the second annual Art Night at the Shaw Conference Centre, where all artists who made submissions were also welcomed back to sell their work. Edmonton’s convention centre was transformed into an art gallery for an evening, and hundreds of guests took in a fabulous evening of art, food and cocktails in the heart of Edmonton’s River Valley.

The art night was also a great time, and thank you to all my friends and family who came by to say hello, and maybe even lend a helping hand. It meant a lot.  Here are some photos of the occasion, courtesy of the Shaw and/or my parents.
